Product Description

Opening game program at Palmer Stadium. Princeton v. Yale Football Program 1914. Opening program for the new Palmer Memorial Stadium, 60 pages. Program is in very good condition and measures 8 inches x 14 inches in size. The program has its original cord binding which is done in the Princeton colors of orange and black. The program includes photos and text about the two teams, the schools, facilities, history and much more. The new stadium was given to the university by Edgar Palmer (Princeton '03) as a gift to his father, who was a trustee of Princeton from 1908 to 1913 and who was the donor of Palmer Hall. Palmer stadium, like those in ancient Greece is in a U-shape. The cover of the program features a nice drawing of the new stadium done by Will H. Schanck. The program is full of high quality black and white photos of the Princeton Campus including a couple of panoramic photos. There are also many photos of the stadium being constructed. Nice full page ad for the now defunct New York Hippodrome featuring "Wars of the World". There is an interesting article in the program "Interesting Facts About the Palmer Memorial Stadium" including the fact that the stadium took only six months to build. The scorecard on page five is unmarked. Palmer Stadium opening day programs are rare.
