Original 1883 Program of the Yale Athletc Association, Fifth Winter Meeting in the Gymnasium. March 10th, 1883, On card stock in very good condition, with onlylight wear. This four page program measures 6 1/2" x 5". The events included in the program include Tug of War, Vaulting, Rope Climbing, High Kick, High Jump and the Horizontal Bar. The referee for the meet is Walter Camp, whose name is listed in the program. Camp graduated from Yale in 1880 and is known as the "Father of American Football" having played an important role in the games early development. Camp was the first football coach at both Yale and Stanford and his career record as coach was 81-5-3.
