The back of the plate states, "Completed in 1948, Firestore Memorial Library is the gift of members of the Firestone family, 21 Princeton classes and 1250 other alumni and friends of Princeton. Offices and Conference Rooms for 12 departments, 500 individual study carrells, 1800 places to read and a capacity of 2,000,000 volumes, it is the largest open-stack library in the world".
