Quantity:

A spectacular original, framed print by F. Earl Christy. The wood frame measures 23-3/16" x 15-1/4", and has gilt paint. The paint on the frame shows some wear and there are three light spots on the top left corner that appear to be foxing, otherwise it is very good condition. The young women is dressed in Yale's colors of blue and white and is holding a bouquet of blue flowers. On top of her to the left is a large "Y" representing Yale. The bottom of the print has a small caption, " The Girl He Likes To Walk With" and there is a copyright lower left which reads "Close, Graham & Scully, New York." Close, Graham & Scully were publishers of fine art prints in the 1900s and 1910s. F. Earl Christy was born in Philadelphia in 1882 and studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. He is best known for his depictions of pretty women. As a young commercial artist in the early 1900s, he created numerous illustrations of attractive girls and student athletes representing the Ivy League and other colleges, which were produced on postcards, posters, china, textiles, and other memorabilia. In the 1920s and 1930s, Christy's romantically idealized portraits were frequently featured in advertisements and on the covers of numerous movie magazines and other publications.  A rare, nice large Christy work.
