Murdock, San Francisco. 100 pages of text with many photos of the campus and environs. Approx 5 x 7.5 inches. The book was published five years after Stanford was founded and is a real gem. Includes full page pictures of Leland and Jane Stanford, the founders and their young son who the school is named after Leland Stanford, Jr. Also includes pictures of the then current trustees of the University. Describes the "estate" land that Stanford was built on. Many early pictures of the just completed university and a copy of the original plan of the University with the completed Quadrangles. A very nice picture of the Stanford football team in 1895, all 12 of them. Early pictures of Palo Alto and surrounding areas. Includes a full page with "Hail, Stanford, Hail" and ads at the end for the Sunset Limited train and the Palace Hotel in San Francisco. Rare.
