She is holding a Penn flag and has an elaborate hat on. The gold frame is nicely detailed. Both the print and the frame are in very good condition. F. Earl Christy was born in Philadelphia in 1882 and studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. He is best known for his depictions of pretty women. As a young commercial artist in the early 1900s, he created numerous illustrations of attractive girls and student athletes representing the Ivy League and other colleges, which were produced on postcards, posters, china, textiles, and other memorabilia. In the 1920s and 1930s, Christy's romantically idealized portraits were frequently featured in advertisements and on the covers of numerous movie magazines and other publications. Christy died in 1961. Framed Christy items in this condition are uncommon.
