Yale Wooden Spoon Exhibition Invitation measures 4 3/4 x 7 3/4 inches in very good condition. The invitation folds out, although there is nothing in the interior. The exterior front of the program has a beautiful illustration and dramatic script writing below it. The Wooden Spoon Exhibition was an elaborate program that began at Yale in 1848 and ended after the turn of the century. The wooden spoon was an actual elaborate ceremony where the most popular studen in the class was given a ceremonial wooden spoon. The practice started years earlier at Cambridge in England.
