Product Description

Antique softcover book of Harvard Heliogravures published in 1891 by Charles H. Thurston, Cambridge, Mass. 31 pages bound together with a crimson ribbon. All pages still present, although some minor soiling to the cover. A heliogravure is an early intaglio printmaking or photo-mechanical process whereby a copper plate is grained and then coated with a light-sensitive gelatin tissue which had been exposed to a film. Includes images of the statue of John Harvard, the President's house, Harvard Hall, Gore Hall, Beck Hall, Weld Hall, University Hall, Sever Hall, Thayer Hall and many more. Rare.
