Stanford v. California Football Program 1908. Game played at California Field, Berkeley. 40 page program in good condition, some minor soiling to cover as seen in the image and the center fold page has come loose from the staple but is still present and in great shape.
This is the eighteenth time the teams met to play "football" although during this time period it was "rugby football," which was a different shaped football and players could kick the ball also. Rugby rules were introduced three years prior as it was thought to be a safer form of the game.
The program has pictures of players from both teams and local advertisements from the period including one for Palo Alto Cyclery which offered rambler bicycles. The back page of the program is an advertisement from a travel company offering a tour to see the upcoming Presidential Inauguration (for William Howard Taft). The scorecard page is unmarked.
A rare program, especially in this condition.
