Yale University Senior Promenade 1880 Dance Card en excellent condition. Measure 4 inches by 3 inches. Outside cover is blue cardboard, bound with a tie string, inside are several pages of paper listing the dances our female friend had all night. She was very busy with all but the first three dances filled in with the name of her partner. Dance cards originated in the 18th century and were used by women to record the names of the gentlemen she intended to dance with at a formal ball. They were used widely in the 19th century.

Great Greek-themed cover illustration.
