Antique Harvard University Bisque hand painted porcelain figurine made by the German firm Gebruder Heubach. Heubach made porcelain figurines between 1840 to 1925. This figurine shows a football/rugby player wearing a sweater in Harvard's color of crimson. Heubach Brothers produced a series of bisque boys with footballs in various poses for the United States market, painting their sweaters in the colors of Ivy League colleges. They were made in two sizes; this example is the smaller size. It measures 4 inches in height.
The rear of the figurine, on the bottom has the Heubach "sunburst" makers mark on it. Some soiling on the bottom as seen in the images.
Heubach figures are extremely rare.
