Vintage 1932 Penn Relay bronze medal. This is the rarer, old style medal issued by the Penn Relays, circling the circumference of the medal it says, "University of Pennsylvania Relay Carnival." Beautiful detailing. Ben Franklin is depicted on the front, his right hand shaking the hand of one of four athletes, as he extends an olive branch with his left hand. Founded 1895 is inscribed above Franklin and the four athletes. The last athlete is holding a relay baton behind his back.
The Penn Relays are the oldest and largest track and field competition in the United States and began in 1895. The medal was for the one mile college class relay.
